Post Paris, Post FAST Act: What role biking can play in helping the US meet its new climate goals CM .75
At the COP 21 Paris Climate Summit 194 nations made commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These Commitments show progress but fall short of the reducing 2-degree Celsius goal. To meet our commitments, the US must address its growing transportation emissions or we will seriously undercut the progress of all other climate actions. What should be the priorities? How to get it done? How can more biking and walking fit in?

This session qualifies for .75 CM credits.

Bicycling as a Bridge for Refugee Communities
Hear powerful testimony on two programs that are using bicycling as a way of building confidence, freedom, and community within refugee populations. The first 20 minutes will be dedicated to the short Dutch documentary film Mama Agatha, which tells the story of a 59-year-old Ghanaian woman living in cyclefriendly Amsterdam who for the past five years has been teaching other immigrant women how to ride bikes. This powerful and moving story is what inspired World Relief, Boise to launch their refugee bicycling program. Learn what it took and how it continues to evolve in helping refugees gain new freedoms through bicycling in Idaho.
