I've been a bike activist around Boston for quite a number of decades, helped get bikes on our transit system, cofounded MassBike, our state-wide coalition of bicyclists, served on innumerable advisory boards and committees, led rides all over metro Boston, organized large bike events, worked for 25 years getting one 13-mile-long urban trail built, and raised a bicycling daughter (who I get to visit in DC!) who grew up attending meetings to get that trail built. Professionally, I'm an astronomer, and other activities besides bicycling include singing, acting, and American intellectual and religious history.
